Using the RoomScanner

Scanning

The RoomScanner is aimed to create a 3D model of a room by scanning walls. This feature requires that your device has a LiDAR sensor. The following description corresponds to iOS/iPad OS 16 or higher. The UI may differ on earlier versions.

The accuracy depends on the lighting conditions, distance to the walls, wall surface materials and other factors. An object that obstructs the view to a wall may make the model less accurate. Keep the distance from the scanner to the walls between 5 m (16 ft) and 0.5 m (1.5 ft).

  1. Hold your device in the middle of the room. Direct it to a wall.
  2. Activate the RoomScanner by choosing Import > Scan Room in AR in the main menu.
  3. Scan walls one after another by rotating and tilting the device slowly. If the scanner cannot "see" a wall, try to come closer to it.
  4. Control the progress of the 3D model creation on the screen. How to react to errors is explained in the following section.
  5. Tap on the Done button to finish scanning.
  6. The scanned room will appear in the final preview. Tap on Accept to approve it and add it to the project.

The app recognizes walls, floor, ceiling, doors and windows automatically.

Dealing with Errors

The scanner may create faulty surfaces that have wrong angles.

If there are too many errors, it is recommended to start over by tapping on the Rescan button. Before rescanning, try to change the conditions. For example, change the place in the room from which you scan, or make the lighting brighter.
